The Māori Sidesteps are a hugely entertaining Māori show band based in Wellington, New Zealand. Formed in 2016 the group has grown into a collective of artists specialising in multimedia and live entertainment. Featuring award-winning Māori entertainers, Cohen Holloway, Jamie McCaskill, Erroll Anderson, and Regan Taylor, the group has toured extensively through New Zealand, and with filmmakers and also members of the collective, Brandon Te Moananui and Tamati Kawha, they have released two self-titled web series winning an award for Best Ensemble at the 2017 NZ Webfest Awards. As well as gathering a following online, most recently they toured the country with their new live show to sell out audiences and standing ovations. With witty banter, beautiful harmonies, and extreme showmanship these guys will have you stamping your hands and clapping your feet.

WEBSERIES

This is a journey of four average Maori fullas who have worked most of their lives at a $2 hokohoko shop, Petes Emporium, in Porirua. Despite their lack of intelligence, they have immense heart which harbours a secret, so ambitious, so out of their league, yet they still stumble towards their goal of attempting to become, the greatest horiest, Maori Show Band…ever. We follow eight stepisodes full of hearty, quirky and distinctly Maori humour with Maori, Samoan, Pakeha and Chinese characters which will win your heart, steal your land and charge you way more than $2.
